Don Gee
My background spans from 1978 in the school days when I couldn’t afford equipment so did Saturday jobs to afford a mixer then a couple of BSR turntables and a Power amplifier kit from Henrys in Edgware Road. I built a twin turntable console with Speakers.
First Gigs
Started early gigs at College for the “Bless the Funk” outfit. Progressed to working with them at the Kings Arms in Wood Green (Supporting Greg Edwards & Froggy), Royalty at Southgate (Upstairs) & Les Arcs Ski Resort in France ( Main Floor).
Passion
I love finding tracks that I have on cassettes, Bit like a detective in getting results. DJing is the result of the passion and my outlet to present my findings.
Influences
My influences are Classic Radio 1 and Early Pirate DJ’s that looked into the foundations of a track.
DJ History
I immigrated to the USA in 80 and after coming back to the UK in 81 returned in 83, while there I tried to see how they operated musically. I linked up with a few top people. Sam Weiss and his son Mike helped me along with working for them at SAM Records, i Met Terry Lewis (Now a Legend) along with DJ Paco Navarro (92 KTU) Who allowed me to sit in on a few shows. They had a craft where you were listening as if you were in a party. Always involve your listeners for interaction.
Present
I Currently DJ for Stomp Radio and still forever looking for more rare tunes and getting ready for when we can party.
The Future
Future plans are to find more rare tracks and attend more events, possibly playing at them also not forgetting, being part of the Stomp Family.
