Roy Medallion

Roy Medallion is one of the UK’s leading Lovers Rock  DJs with a track record stretching as far back as the 1970’s.As an East End of London born boy,Hackney to be exact,Roy Medallion began buying music at a very early age from his school days at Cardinal Pole and St Phillip Howard.
He first begain entertaining crowds at birthday parties for friends and family,then, not long after he began to venture into playing at nightclubs.By the 1980’s his reputation as a Lovers Rock selector saw him gaining regular bookings at clubs such as Lambard/Pier One (Dalston) NIght Moves,Dougies,Mingles,Shenola’s.


Towards the end of the 1980’s he began to start making his name in the world of radio as well.This began with Radio RJR then Supreme, followed by a number of years on Station FM. As his reputation and following grew into the 90’s,this led to a special one off show on KISS FM IN 1997 where they  did a special feature on the leading club DJs at the time.
You can now find Roy Medallion on JFSR(Jazz Funk Soul Radio) 8-10pm Saturdays.Colourful Radio 7-9pm Sundays.GFM96.6(Gloucestershire) 6-8pm Sundays on rotation.Afro-Disiac(Bournemouth) Midday-2pm Sundays.Such is his popularity throughout all of these years that he has become the leading DJ for promotors of some of biggest Lovers Rock concert in the country.This includes entertaining audiences in venue such as the O2 with many of the biggest names in UK reggae amongst the guests.

Whilst known as a Lovers Rock DJ capable of entertaining audiences with touches of soul and other reggae formats, although Lovers Rock remain my speciality.

In 2011 Roy Medallion was rewarded for his over 30 years service to Reggae music with a HiCrEc(Hidden Creative Economy)Award with public vote as the UK’s Best Community DJ.
